B.A. Mass Communication
B.A. Mass Communication is a three year course leading to a Bachelor's degree in mass communication. It endeavors to develop young girls and boys for engagement in various tasks related to the operations and management of media and mass communication. It may not be treated as a terminal course in the subject but should be considered as a basic course for higher studies in mass communication.
Broadly the course includes the following components :
1. Basic understanding of the social processes.
2. Basic understanding of the processes of communication.
3. Learning the basic skills of writing in Hindi and English for various media.
4. Learning the basic skills for performing various media tasks.
During the three years of the course, the students will be engaged in the process of keeping aware of the contemporary issues of the society. This may be carried out by way of classroom involvement of the students in :
(a) Presentations (b) Group discussions (c) Quiz
From the last few decades mass media has emerged as a great boom which is not only enlightening people but also proving its worth in professional field. Sensing the vitality of mass media in current scenario, Arya P.G. College, Panipat has introduced it as a course for the under graduate students. The basic aim of this course is to train young students in the art and craft of Mass Communication at the initial level of their college education and prepare them for higher education in the field. In addition to the study of languages and social science, this course exposes the students to the basics of journalism, advertising and public relations. After completion of the course one can join media organisations, go for higher studies and can appear for competitive examinations also. The course of Mass Communication not only prepares the students for jobs in various professions related to media; journalism, public relations, advertising; radio and television production, printing, graphics, but also open great avenues for self employment and establishment of organizations with high potential for providing employment to others.
Minimum Eligibility Conditions
- A student who has passed one of the following examinations with English as one of the subjects shall be eligible to join BA-MC Part-I:
- Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (10+2 standard) of the Board of School Education, Haryana, Bhiwani or an examination recognised by Kurukshetra University equivalent thereto with at least 50% marks.
- Admission, even provisional, will not be given to candidates securing compartment in 10+2 examination.
