Memorable events of 2014-15
Ever since its inception Arya P.G. College has the pride distinction to achieve milestone in diverse fields. On 30th May 2015, our College has completed 60+ years of its establishment. During these 60+ years, college has a number of achievements in its credit. Brief accomplishments of college during the session 2014-15 are presented here for the new aspirants joining the college.
Academic Achievements
Higher Education is not only the means of earning bread and better, rather it develops the personality of the student to make them responsible citizens to take up the challenges of real world life. Our college is providing education in Arts, Science and Commerce along with post-graduate courses in Economics, English, Commerce and Mathematics along technical and skill oriented courses as per the need and requirement of industries for fruitful employment generation. It is a matter of great honour for the whole Arya College Family that this year almost 135 students have attained positions in university merit list. This trend is ever increasing. Here is list of students who attained merit in the university in more than one semester.
Cultural Achievements
Cultural activities are an integral part of students life. Achievements of the students in such activities are numerous. Under the able guidance of overall incharge Dr. Ram Niwas and Co-ordinator Smt. Meenakshi Chaudhary the students have proved their worth in cultural field.
Won overall Zonal Youth Festival trophy
Our college successfully organised the Zonal Youth Festival (Karnal Zone) of the Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra on 20-22 October, 2014 in which around 3000 students of 65 colleges participated and it is matter of great honour that our college won the overall trophy for the 6th time in a row. Out of total 29 events, our college got 19 recommanded and six commended event.
Won overall Inter Zonal Youth Festival Trophy
The Inter-Zonal Youth Festival of the University was organised in Guru Nanak Girls College, Yamunanagar in which our college got 7 items recommended and 8 items commanded and won the over all Inter Zonal Youth Festival trophy for the first time. Last year also the college won the runner up trophy of Inter Zonal Youth festival of the university.
First Prize at Inter University Youth Festival
Jammu University, Jammu organised the Inter University (North Zone) Youth festival and it was the privilege for our college to represent the contigent of Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and among the 32 students, 22 were from our college. In this event Haryanvi Orchestra of our college won the first prize and in other three events our students got 2nd position. At National Level, youth festival was held at Indore (Madhya Pardesh) in which again our college represented the University and our Haryanvi Orchestra got second position.
In Ratnavali Mahotsav organised at Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra, Haryanvi skit and the Saang of our college performed well and got first prize. Besides Nandita and Kanika won first and 2nd rank respectively in debate in 37th Inter Zonal Literary Workshop of the University held in Hisar. Likewise the college won 2nd rank in Inter University Quiz competition of the University.
At National Leval, the college won first prize in Group Dance and Mime organised in Panjab University, Chandigarh and Haryanvi dance got 2nd position in Jamia Millia Islamia University, Delhi. The talented student of the college Milan won Ist prize in Videocon Yang Munch-2 Grand Finale in Solo Dance competition organised at Panchcula.
Sports Achievements
Under the able guidance of Sh. Dr. Naresh Saini the students of the college have achieved various landmarks at International, National, State and University Level.
The men and women Badminton team of the college won third position at inter college competition organised by the university Sudhanshu (B.com-III) represented the University in Jammu University, Jammu in All India Badminton Competition and won Bronze medal. Women Hockey team of the college performed well in Inter college Hockey competition and won third prize. Kumari Aastha Tyagi represented the University at North Zone University Hockey Competition and won 3rd position
First year student of the college, Ravi Kumar represented the country in Cricket Asia Cup in physically handicapped category.
The Taikwando team of women won third position at University level whereas Men team won 2nd position.
The college organised Inter Zonal and Inter College Taikwando, Chess, Badminton and Cricket competitions sponsored by the University. Haryana Throwball Association organised National Level Throwball Championship in the college in which almost 800 participants of 22 states participated. Along with this, college and Dhronacharya Shotting Academy organised National Shooting Championship in which 450 Shooters explored their talent.
Campus Placements (2014-15)
The Career Guidance & Placement Cell of the college organised various motivational lectures and invited companies for campus placement drive and a number of students were selected in different reputed companies like ICICI, Axis Bank, Pepsi, Coco Cola, Aquaguard etc. Recently in a campus placement drive, PNB Metlife also recruited 18 students in insurance field. The cell also organised educational trips to the places like The President House and Reserve Bank of India, New Delhi.
